About 9400 kilometers of toll highways, the airports of Fiumicino and Ciampino in Italy and the airport of Nice Côte d’Azur in France, for a total of about 60 million passengers in transit every year. We are talking about Atlantia, the leading Italian joint-stock company in the sector of motorway and airport infrastructure and mobility-related services. Suffice it to say that it is present in 11 countries, from France to the United Kingdom, from Spain to Poland, but also in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia.
Well, Atlantia has decided to start its digital transformation by relying on SAP and Amazon Web Services. This is to renew the technological infrastructure and move to a completely cloud-based environment that guarantees agility, scalability and functionality. Thus Atlantia S.p.A. chose RISE with SAP because SAP’s integrated offer to manage business in the Cloud that provides a path to the Intelligent Enterprise, regardless of the starting point or complexity of the organization, is combined with the services of Amazon Web Services Cloud provider that has been collaborating with the group for some time.
A more than perfect alliance if we consider that together with AWS, the first Cloud Provider in the world, there is also SAP, a European multinational for the production of management software, one of the world’s leading companies in the field of enterprise resource planning and in general in IT solutions for companies. Suffice it to say that giants such as Bauli, Technogym, La Feltrinelli, iGuzzini, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Benetton rely on SAP.
“RISE with SAP – says Enzo Pagliaroli, Services and Public Sector Sales Director of SAP Italia – is increasingly proving to be the best answer for those companies that want to accelerate a transformation path of their business by exploiting the potential of the Cloud with the possibility of accessing a scalable offer that for the first time is offered as a complete, simplified and flexible service that can be adapted to customer needs”. “The case of Atlantia – continues Pagliaroli – highlights all these advantages as well as making us proud because it is able to support the company’s objectives in the field of sustainability, a value that SAP also pursues within its activities and to help companies achieve their ESG goals”.
In addition, the acceleration of the business transformation path is fundamental. And here the contribution of AWS is fundamental, which has proven to be a winning factor, thanks to its solidity and efficiency at the infrastructural level it has made it possible to adopt a Cloud environment by outsourcing all the management and maintenance aspect.
And then there is the issue of sustainability, which is very dear to Atlantia and also to Amazon Web Service , because technology and innovation are not important factors, but also the processes of safeguarding the ecosystem are just as important. Carlo Giorgi, Managing Director EMEA SMB at AWS, was keen to point out that companies in Europe can reduce energy consumption by nearly 80% by migrating their compute workloads from on-premises data centers to AWS. “Atlantia,” says Giorgi, “has developed its IT infrastructure on AWS considering the availability of the data centers of our AWS Europe (Milan) Region in Italy and the common strategy of sustainability in operations.” Finally, 2025 is very close and Amazon Web Service could reach its goal very soon: 100% powered by renewable energy. This will lead companies to further reduce carbon emissions from an average workload, up to 96%. Technology and sustainability is always the right solution.
